- Route: Gorgeous Gorge
- Date of Ride: 19 June, 2019
On Wednesday evening’ 19/06 our ride was an extension of Tuesday evening's ride at 38 km / 24 miles / 636 m ascended.
This is our longest evening route hence the time of year we ride it. Plus the fact it provides great fitness training only 2 weeks before our first Alps trip. Spanning 3.5 hours, this ride comprises lovely singletrack, fine double track and a share of quiet roads some just 3 m wide with a broken surface.
The route goes uphill and down dale taking in high ground with distant views and rich green valley floors which are part of some of the views; it passes through woods, circuits upland fields, crosses streams and edges the River Tyne and it follows miles of old drove roads and historical tracks which ooze history.
With slopelets aplenty it also has some stonking hills both up and down as well as flat valley roads that we tanked along. A pootley bimble nor a bimbley pootle this was not – nothing short of great evening ride it definitely was.
