Tyne Valley MTB:
August 2018 Alps MTB Tour Geneva / Briancon
MTB Alps August 2018 7 ride days | Geneva to south of Briancon Guide cost: £1,000.00 pp | 11th to 19th August 2018
|
The Alps curve south from Geneva to the Mediterranean for 700 km and the master plan is to find and ride the best MTB route possible between Geneva and Nice split into 2 weeks. Quite a lot of this alignment coincides with the GR5 long distance footpath not all of which is suitable for MTBs.
Essentially, our route starts from the main valley just south of Geneva and from then on it climbs and descends on a daily basis. En route south it crosses more main valleys and of course daily height gain to earn long descents is fundamental to the journey. It is proposed all ascending is best achieved using one of the following options as dictated by individual circumstances:
- Mechanical uplift – where ski resorts coincide
- Minibus uplift – where there’s a road but no mechanical uplift
- Pedal power – when all else fails
